This Privacy Policy explains how Jose Pimentel ("we", "us", "our"), the
operator of the Maranatha dating application and the website at
maranatha.dating (together, the "Service"), collects, uses, and shares your personal
information. Maranatha is a faith-oriented dating service for the Seventh-day Adventist
community.
Adults only. The Service is intended only for people
who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone
under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at
support@maranatha.dating and we will delete it.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
Account details: email address and authentication credentials. If you
sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email (or a private relay email)
from that provider.
Profile details: display name, date of birth (used to confirm you are
18+ and to show your age), gender, biography, and the photos you upload.
Faith and lifestyle details: information you choose to share such as
Sabbath observance, dietary preference, baptism status, church involvement, and
conference/region. Some of this may reveal your religious beliefs.
Verification selfie: if you request a "Verified" badge, the selfie you
capture for manual review.
Content and activity: messages you send, likes, introductions, matches,
and any reports or blocks you create.
Support communications: messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
Location: with your permission, your device location, which we use to
compute distance for matching and to display an approximate city label. You can decline
or disable this in your device settings.
Device and usage data: device type, app version, push notification
token, log data, and general IP-derived information.
Subscription status: from Apple, Google, or RevenueCat we receive
whether you hold an active subscription. We do not receive or store your full
payment card details.
Sensitive information. Some information you provide — your
religious/faith attributes, your photos, and your location — may be considered sensitive. By
choosing to add this information to your profile you consent to our processing it to operate the
Service. You control what you share and can edit or remove most of it at any time. By design,
your profile (including photos and faith attributes) is visible to other users of the Service.
2. How we use your information
Create and manage your account and profile.
Provide core features: discovery, distance-based matching, likes, introductions,
messaging, and notifications.
Trust & safety: automatically screen uploaded photos for prohibited
content, review verification selfies, detect and prevent fraud, fake profiles, spam, and
abuse, and enforce our Terms and community guidelines.
Send transactional communications (for example, password-reset emails) and, where
enabled, push notifications about activity such as new messages, matches, likes, and
profile visits. We never include message contents in a push notification.
Process subscriptions and entitlements.
Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
3. Photo moderation and verification
To keep the community safe, uploaded photos are automatically analyzed by Amazon
Rekognition for content moderation before they become visible to others; photos that fail
moderation are not shown. Verification selfies are reviewed to confirm a real person and are
stored privately, accessible only to us for review — they are never shown to other users. We
do not sell biometric information, and we do not use these images for advertising. We do not
keep verification selfies longer than needed for the review: once your request is approved the
selfie is deleted promptly, and if it is denied the selfie is deleted within 30 days of the
decision.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described
here:
With other users: your profile information, photos, faith attributes,
approximate location/distance, and the messages you send are shared with the users you
interact with, by design.
With service providers (processors) who operate the Service on our
behalf, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations (see table below).
For legal and safety reasons: to comply with law, enforce our Terms,
or protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public.
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale
of assets, subject to this Policy.

where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, after which it is deleted.

Delete: permanently delete your account and data in the app, or by

Deactivate: temporarily hide your profile without deleting it.
Location and notifications: control these through your device settings.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, access,
correct, and delete your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for
exercising these rights. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context
behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
7. Security
We use measures such as encryption in transit, row-level access controls, private storage
with time-limited signed links, and server-side moderation to protect your information. No
method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute
security.
8. International users
The Service is currently offered in the United States, the Philippines, and Spanish-speaking
Latin America. Your information may be processed and stored in the United States and other
countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have data-protection laws
different from those in your country.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and
revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated in the app.
